The belly bands seem to be getting the point across to Gizmo, and we haven’t had any incidents recently. However, i also haven’t really had to test him very hard either (i haven’t been out at night in a few days).
In other news, i’m testing out some del.icio.us site integration. We’ll see if it’s actually useful. I wish it could search through other people’s tags, rather than just mine.

For some reason, recently, gizmo has been hopping up onto the nightstand. Now, it’s not a problem or anything — the only time he’s allowed in the bedroom is when someone is home. It’s just an odd “pug behavior” that makes us really wonder what he’s thinking.
In other news, we’ve finally resorted to belly bands to help cut down on gizmo’s marking. Gadget’s really good about not marking, but Gizmo has been marking in retaliation, say, for me leaving the house at night. I don’t like to have to put a belly band on him, but he’s not going to be neutered (both Gizmo and Gadget are AKC champions out to stud), and I think that this is one of the most humane things for me to do with him.
Any comments or tips would be appreciated.

Spirit is Gadget’s son, and he’s here for the weekend to get everyone in a good jazz fest mood — even though we’re not going this weekend. I’ve got a bachelor party to go to, and Tricia’s studying for law school exams.
Spirit’s one of Gadget’s puppies with Lexy, and he really looks like a cross between them. He’s really an amazing looking puppy, and he’s very well behaved. The first night he was here, he slept right at my chest in the same position the entire night! I’ve never seen a pug puppy do that before.
Anyway, the pictures I just posted on flickr (you can get to them by clicking on the pictures) are of spirit, gizmo, and gadget playing last night. Some of them just turned out great.

This weekend, we took the dogs to the local farmer’s market. Everyone had a good time — the boys just loved seeing all the people (and the attention they got). However, Gadget started to get really, really tired at the end. Whenever we’d stop to talk to someone or cross the street, he’d just plop down, exhausted. Still, he had a great time and I’m sure he’ll want to go again next weekend, presuming it’s not too hot for the boys.
If you click on this image, you’ll also see some other pictures I took on the walk home — or after we got home when the boys were pooped.

I think he’s yawning in this picture.
When I got home from work today, they were both especially happy to see me and were coming up to my chair while I checked my email.
Some of these pictures — you catch the dogs in mid-action, and they just look so funny. If it were a person, they’d be, “no! i look weird in that picture! you can’t show that one!” — but they’re dogs and they don’t mind me posting funny pictures of them.
Gadget thinks it’s cool.

Last night I snapped a picture of Gadget in bed with Tricia. Usually, both pugs sleep (literally) on top of her head. However, they were still in a “settling down” phase, and I wasn’t in bed, so Gizmo wasn’t there yet.
So, Gadget snuggled up into her side and was getting ready for bed.

I’m sick today, so I thought I’d post something a little bit less upbeat. Here’s gizmo resting in his favorite spot on my sofa. Notice i’ve got the microfiber covered with a pattern to keep it clean.
Microfiber may be easy to clean, but i’d rather throw a cover in the wash.
In totally unrelated news, I think that these things i saw on design*sponge are really cool. I want one.

So we went for a visit to Pug Central yesterday, and the puppies are really getting big. They’re big enough to run around and play with all the big pugs, and boy do they love it. The cutest thing, however, is that the puppies love to roll over onto their back and paw at the other dogs, just like Gadget likes to do — as you can see in this picture.

Ok, so we’re reacting to the recent video that Riley posted on his blog. We admit that Riley is a really, really amazing pug. Riley is freaking cute.
But when he posted video, he upped the ante. We’re going to have to see that raise, and give you this

I’m finished with the photos from a couple weeks ago when I went to see all the puppies. I think this photo is one of my favorites!
In other news, Tricia has been a little under the weather for the past couple days, and Gizmo and Gadget have been doing a good job taking care of her, helping lift her mood when she’s feeling ill. I think that’s one of the best things about pugs — they are so affectionate, they really can cheer you up.
Also, if anyone has any ideas for how to keep a super-licking pug’s breath from constanly smelling awful, please, please comment! I’ve got to figure something out for Gadget’s breath.

This weekend was pretty good — I went to a party Friday night in one of the penthouses in my building, and I met the guy who started up Twiropa, which is just down the road from where I live. Oh, and the boys played for hours with Chloe, the puppy French Bulldog who lives down the hall (and was also at the party)
I spent all Saturday running errands & Finally ended up at another party Saturday night (engagement party).
Today was more relaxed. Tricia and I went shopping, she got some new clothes for her new job, and I helped.
In the middle of all this, Tricia and I thought it would be funny to feed the boys some whipped cream and take some pictures of it on their faces. This is just one of the shots, there are a couple more if you follow the links to flickr.

We just went to go get some tcby, and I snapped this photo of tricia waiting in the car w/ gadget. Yes, we took the dogs with us to go get frozen yogurt.
I noticed someone posted something in the comments — pugs in costume. Check it out, it’s great.

Here’s a pic i’ve been holding onto for a while, it’s the boys in the bath, and I really like this picture.
Yesterday, I went over to my local dog washing place, which is relatively new, and found out about their setup. Basically, you bring your dogs in, pay them $10 per dog, and they let you wash them. They provide towels, shampoo, and a big tub. It’s a pretty good idea for people who have big dogs or for people who don’t have the space to wash their dogs in their house (like me).
I think i’m going to go over there this weekend and give the guys a bath.
Oh, in other news, check out petapotty. they sell indoor containers for sod, upon which your pets can potty. How funny is that? (im thinking about getting one!)

I’ve just returned from a trip to Oklahoma to visit some of Tricia’s family. Notably, we met Zoe, her grandmother’s pug, and her brother’s beagles — Mattie and Mookie.
Gizmo just tinkled on my sofa. Fortunately, I had it covered and nothing actually got onto the sofa. Still, I yelled at him, and he got kinda mad at me for yelling at him. Eventually, things settled down, and both Gizmo & Gadget are sleeping underneath my desk as I write this.

So on Friday, I had a new sofa delivered, and what do you know, Gizmo knows what to do. The first thing he did as soon as it got here was to hop up onto the back of the sofa, claiming his spot. Since then, he’s found two spots on it that are “his” spots. He’s in total heaven, having the sofa. Honestly, he likes it more than I do.
Unfortunately, Gadget hasn’t figured out that he can jump onto it yet. He did get up there once or twice, but he falls down when jumping up there, so I think he’s given up. I’m not sure if this is a blessing or not, yet.
I got this sofa in particular because a) it’s microfiber, and that makes it more resistant to stains & easier to brush hair off of and b) it’s literally the same color as the dogs. I didnt realize how closely they matched until it arrived. While this isn’t a substitute for removing dog hair from the sofa, it sure does help hide it.
In other news, I got a haircut today, and brought Dawn (who owns Belle) one of my Pug Euro stickers. She loved it, and after my haircut was done, we put it on her car — hopefully, I’ll have a picture of that soon.
