Ok, they’re not really zombies, but yesterday, gizmo was “spooked” by something, and he’s just not been quite the same since. He hasn’t been as friendly to random people in our building, and last night, in bed, he sat up on a pillow and was “watching” for things.
Well, first, he stayed in the kitchen rather than come to bed. We had to coax him into bed, which is very unusual. Then, when he saw a bit of movement in the covers, he would ‘jump’ a little bit, as if he were startled. He kept doing this, and he appeared possibly scared.
Well, eventually, i tucked him under the comforter with me, and pet him for quite a while until he calmed down some. However, he’s not really an “under the covers” sleeper. He’ll go there for a minute for fun, then move out. Last night, however, he stayed under the covers next to me for a LONG time.
Eventually, sometime in the middle of the night, he made his way to Tricia’s head, but it’s a little bit worrying to see him acting so strangely.

Gizmo and Gadget are getting more and more ridiculous all the time. Gizmo now wants to be ON the table while tricia studies, instead of just in the chair next to her.
At night, they now totally take over the pillows. Their goal is to sleep as close to your face as possible. It doesn’t bother me much, because of the way I sleep (I sorta ‘hug’ the pillow, therefore pugs can’t sleep on the same pillow as me. However, tricia tends to sleep on her back, leaving room for one of the pugs (usually gizmo) to sneak up and sit down on her head and sleep that way.
Absolutely ridiculous.

Well, at least one other person calls it a “scoot.” See the Hypersnortin’ Pug Scootin’ Boogie.
I’ll have some more pictures soon, but if you really need a pug fix, try that link, or this video of pugs that somehow remind me of my own.
While i’m at it, can you believe this one? swinging pugs!!!!
None of these are gizmo or gadget, but I like them anyway. In other news, wedding progress is, well, progressing. The recent development is work on the wedding program (we’re doing it ourselves). I highly recommend Stamp Diva for all your rubber stamping needs.

Tricia and Gizmo. We’re not sure — he might not actually be a pug, rather, the rare and mysterious species “Pillowis Burrowensis” which makes its home in between pillows and likes to sleep a lot.
In other news, Tori Spelling has a new show, which features Mimi La Rue, her pug. The show’s called “So Notorious” and comes on VH1.

First of all, to get the best of this set of photos, check out the full sized originals.
This four-frame set is of gadget getting some dog bacon, which he absolutely loves. However, today, tricia found out a new “favorite” of the boys — lace cookies!
Yesterday, she had her first wedding shower, and there were lots of leftover cookies and cakes, so she brought some home. Anyway, Gizmo and Gadget go bonkers for them, though I haven’t seen this yet myself, It’s probably much similar to the time when they were already-hyper puppies that I gave them some donut holes.
Can you say, “pugs banging against the walls hyper” ? I knew you could.

It’s Mardi Gras today, and even pugs here are celebrating.
This is gadget decked out in his obligatory beads. He got them outside our house, as some of the bands and floats go right past our house, and someone threw the boys some fake pearls.
They didn’t even have to go topless or kiss anyone.

Well, this long weekend is Mardi Gras here in New Orleans, and I had a long thursday-saturday. I went to the ball for the Krewe of Hermes on thursday, then did all the parade related events on friday, including ride friday night. Saturday is kind of a “shot” day if you’re not doing parades, because there’s so much traffic.
Tricia and I met with a priest saturday morning (for the upcoming wedding), but the rest of the day was basically left to me doing some household chores, playing too much world of warcraft, and washing the pugs.
And boy, did they need a bath (they STUNK!)
This picture is of Gizmo getting dried off after his bath. I have a few videos i’ll post tomorrowish showing gizmo going crazy after his bath.
Well, more like shower, cause that’s all we have (i get in the shower WITH them)

Gizmo can’t get enough of sitting in chairs with people. If he can’t sit next to you in the chair, he’ll sit in the next chair.
Most of the time, now, we have to put a chair next to us for gizmo to hop into, otherwise he’ll whine and paw at you until you do either put him in your lap or put him in the chair next to you.
It’s totally weird, he’s gone from loving to be on the back of the sofa to loving being perched on chairs.
The key thing for Gizmo is being up high, I think. I think it has something to do with wanting to be closer to people or wanting to do what people do (sit in chairs). Either way, I see a Pinnochio story (The Pug who wanted to be a boy).

Ok, so I know there’s just one judge, but hey, Dermot really had a chance until he shyed away from the judge at the last minute. Apparently, it’s because of a bad experience a few months ago where a judge’s fingernail nicked the inside of his mouth. Ever since then, he gets scared on the judging table.
Other than that, Dermot is the man.
Either way, Rufus the Colored Bull Terrier is a very nice looking dog, and he deserved to win Best in Show just as much as any of the other dogs.
At least Dermot got to represent.
There’s always Westminster next year.

So Dermot won last night as the best in the Toy Group, and we all got really excited for all Pugdom.
Anyway, don’t forget to watch tonight starting at 8 Eastern to see what happens with the rest of the show. (They’ll do best in show at the very end)
If you need to, TIVO IT.

For those of you who don’t know, tonight and tomorrow are the “big daddy” of dog shows, Westminster. You can get updates here
It’s in NYC, and it’s airing on the USA Network from 8-11 eastern tonight and tomorrow night. They’ve already judged the pugs, and the Best in Breed is “Ch Kendoric’s Riversong Mulroney,” the same Pug who won best in breed for Pugs at the Purina show at Thanksgiving and Best in Breed last year at Westminster. He goes by the name Dermot. He has quite a history.
The “Ch” stands for “Champion,” and the breeder usually has part of the dog’s “formal name” too.
Gizmo and Gadget are:
Ch Wind Valley’s Gizmoto Dragon and
Ch Wind Valley’s Gaudium Dragon
The name is supposed to reflect who bred the dog, but sometimes people put in more than that. For example, G&G have “dragon” in their name because they’re shown/owned by Tricia’s parents, and their kennel name is “Silk Dragon” (I’m only part owner of Gizmo)
So, Gadget’s kids are all “Silk Dragon’s XYZ”
All of this is supposed to have NO relation to what you actually CALL the dog, because the judge isn’t supposed to know anything about who the dog is actually owned/bred by. Really, even the handler isn’t supposed to matter, but there’s a lot of politics involved, so one dog can actually be judged higher than another one JUST BECAUSE he is handled by a famous handler.
That’s kinda crap, but it’s how it works.
Anyway, they’re retired show dogs now, but they do have little “diplomas” we have on the walls for them.
Watch USA tonight and cheer for the pugs! (BOO Pomeranian! BOO Poodle!)
Gizmo rules.

So, here’s another video I took of the boys playing. I’ve been trying to get more really good videos, but it’s hard to have the camera ready, and when they REALIZE you’re filming them, they start watching you instead of playing.
Now, previous to this, they would only “mark” inside the house, or if they HAD to go, they’d go on the pads we put out for them. They still do this when they need to. However, some of this couch-peeing will happen when Tricia’s home ALL DAY with them, leaves for an evening class, and I get home 15 minutes later. So they pretty much had no time alone, but they’re mad that she left them alone, so they get back at her by going on the couch.
What to do? If this keeps up, we’re going to have to go back to keeping them in the hallway while we’re gone.

Tricia’s back to the grind of law school, and the other day, with Gizmo always at her side (He always HAS to be on the chair next to her, for some reason).
Anyway, she decided to take a break and eat some yogurt, which Gizmo absolutely loved.

Gadget’s been browsing the internet, and he found a really funny website with photoshopped pug pictures — Personal Jesús
Also, I’ve found a new favorite food for Gizmo and Gadget. Gadget will eat just about anything, but Gizmo is a fairly picky. Both of them go absolultely bonkers for fresh pears. They love pears more than they love broccoli, and that’s saying a lot!

This video was taken on New Year’s day at Pug City. It’s basically of Oopsie, one of Ipsy’s puppies, running around going crazy, trying to play with Gizmo and Gadget, who are tired at this point.
