Here’s another pick of the photos from the W. In this picture, Ipsy is poking her head up onto the bed, hoping I pick her up onto the bed.
Ipsy had an accident when she was a pup, which caused her to have some eye surgery. She’s ok, except she’s partially blind out of her right eye. If you look closely at photos of her, her right eye hardly ever shows any “blue eye” (dog red-eye effect) because the surgery and trauma to her eye cause the light not to reflect as well off of her retina.
Even with this, she’s still an amazing pug, with personality to spare. Really, that’s what pugs have — personality. They’ve been bred for centuries for that one purpose, to live with humans and be pets, and I think whoever was doing the breeding got something right. Pugs really do make great pets.
Hmm… If only Gizmo could sing. “We’ll make great pets… ” — I’ll have to go downl… er.. buy from itunes Perry Ferrell singing Pets while he was in Porno for Pyros.

A few weeks ago, Tricia won a poetry contest at the Bridge Lounge, sponsored by the Humane Society. Well, this weekend, we decided to go… and take the pugs with us. The place is great, although I *do* live about five blocks away from the place.
View of my house
In this picture, Tricia is deciding what to get for breakfast the next morning, and gizmo is absolutely LOVING the huge pillows.
A few of the neat things that they do for your dog are: dog treats on turndown, special pet beds (though we didnt get one), pet grooming and veterinarian services, dog walking services, and special W shaped dog treats!
W Dog Treat
Overall, we had a great time staying there. We went to dinner, watched a movie, played with the dogs. Tricia and I really think that the dogs “know” that we “chose” to take them with us, and they were really happy. I think we spent all weekend with the dogs. Friday night, Saturday all day, then we took them to the hotel with us, then on Sunday, we took the dogs with us to my parents’ house, where they have a big yard to run around in. Ipsy totally loves hopping around in the yard, she looks just like a little bunny.

Apparently, if you don’t get 3 consecutive days of hard freeze over the winter, flea eggs don’t die.
Well, guess what? We didn’t have that in New Orleans this past winter, so we’re seeing the effects of a “bad flea season.”
We’ve been doing everything we can to keep the fleas off the dogs, including using advantix, but about 2 weeks after i applied advantix, i noticed fleas & tapeworm in/on gizmo. — ACK — Anyway, he’s got his medicine, been bathed thoroughly (again), and he’s now got another dose of advantix.
We’ll see what happens from here.

The puppies went back home, but Ipsy is back for now — Gadget is still having his fun in Baton Rouge. Anyway, if you click on the image here, you’ll see Freyapup’s comment, “I love that wild look they get in their eyes. Usually followed by the classic Pug butt tuck romp around the house!”
I call it “the bullet” — it’s also called “the scoot”
Gizmo does it sometimes after i take him on walks, and every pug I know does it after I bathe them. They go crazy when I dry them off!

The puppies are currently running from under and out of my bed, back and forth, back and forth.
They don’t stop.
They use all that food I feed them. It’s no wonder they poop so much.
Anyway, Spirit and Snowy both took to the stacking on the counter tonight — ‘stacking’ is what you call standing a dog in the “show” position, usually on table for pugs, so the judges can check them out. The puppies need to learn to not be scared of the height of the table, and how to stand. The young pups also need to learn how to walk on a lead (leash). Anyway, snowy took to it no problem, but spirit REALLY FREAKING HATED IT.
Oh, and snowy had a little bit of demodex, which is why her forehead looks a little patchy.
More puppy photos soon! — Click this photo to see more that I posted tonight.

Gizmo always finds the weirdest places to sit. He goes up onto the nightstand, onto the bookshelf, on the little cart we use to bring stuff upstairs from the garage, and now, in the dish washer.
Puppies are coming over tonight!

We visited Gadget at Pug Central today, and boy, he was really happy to see us. It’s good to know that he misses us, too.
In other news, I may be having several pug puppies stay with me for a few days! I can’t wait!

First off, I think this is the first time i’ve posted a picture of myself on here. This is me and Ipsy, and as I was trying to take a picture of us, she started kissing me. I don’t think you can see her tongue in this picture, but she’s in mid-lick.
Last night, we went to the bridge lounge for a humane society event, where there was a poetry contest. The winner, as decided by some judges (one of which runs Three Dog Bakery) would win a night’s stay at the W hotel in Downtown New Orleans.
That being Tricia’s favorite hotel, she decided to write a poem and enter the contest. Everything was going well, she got up to the microphone, I brought the dogs up to the podeum to sit on some chairs for everyone to see, and then Tricia started reading the poem she had written about Emily, who recently passed away.
She got through about two lines of the poem, and couldn’t continue. So, she beckoned me to read it for her, which I did (Quite well, if I do say so myself)
Anyway, the judges were moved by her poem and her display of emotion, and she WON!! How cool is that? See Tricia, you still have creativity in you.
Update: As I apparently do every single time, I identified ipsy and gizmo wrong in the previous post. Ipsy’s in the front, not Gizmo.

This evening, I made a big trip to Wal-Mart for supplies, and my condo building has some shopping carts we use to unload our cars. Well, tonight, i decided to walk the pugs right after unloading the newly purchased goods.
Anyway, they made it into the shopping cart and had this picture taken. I think it’s interesting how Gizmo takes more of the “lead role” now that it’s him and Ipsy, rather than him and Gadget.
Not that Gadget is much of the Alpha male, it’s just that gadget is always popping up first in the pictures.

Gadget is going back to pug central for a little while to train for a possible showing in San Antonio (I that’s where they’re holding the Pug Nationals this year) So, in his absense, Ipsy is here to keep Gizmo company.
Oh, in other news, Gonnie, who is Gizmo and Gadget’s brother, just got his championship. Off to retire for him, now!

I just saw the dog powered scooter off of the Make Blog.
How neat is that? I think we should get one for Gadget to lose some weight.

Tricia was eating some cheese this morning, and afterwards, Gadget just stayed right by the cheese, even after we went into the other room. he was staying by the cheese, just hoping we’d come back over and give him some.
Of course, I did, and this is the picture of him getting some.

So I guess it’s inevitable that even the most inside-loving dogs get fleas once in a while, and well, i guess that time is now.
Gizmo and Gadget had fleas last week or so, and i’m guessing the hartz flea junk i put on them didn’t do a good enough job of protecting them. Anyway, Gadget’s got them again. As a quick fix, i put some more of the dreaded “flea junk” on him, but I’m really going to have to give another flea bath, then get the better advantix product.
And i suppose some sort of flea collar would be appropriate now. I never had a problem with fleas at the Saulet, but I guess that’s because they spread flea killer outside. Now that i’m on more public streets with (probably) more dogs in a smaller area, there’s probably more NEED to put flea killer out there, but there’s nobody doing it.
Some va-poo-rize for fleas would be good about now.

All I can say is that I am in love with my pugs. They are so entirely lovable it’s uncanny.
Pugs have this special something that’s so endearing. They have such personality, such emotion — they just love you so much.
I know Tricia loved Emily very much, even though she didn’t live with her anymore, and I’m very sad that she won’t be around anymore.
Tricia, I know you’ll probably be upset when you read this, but I want you to know that I miss Emily too, and it won’t be the same when we’re at Pug Central without Emily going crazy when you let her into the bed.
Emily was such a trooper, putting up with all the puppies — hers and otherwise, she’ll really be missed.
We will miss you, Emily.

So Friday, my neighbor’s dog, Chloe, came over for a playdate. The three of them went wild, running around. Chloe’s a really young pup, so she’s got more energy to zoom around the house with. Chloe ended up switching between chasing Gizmo, then Gadget, then back to Gizmo.
Oh, and Chloe is a French Bulldog.
